It started with a plumbing situation.

The drains had been running pretty slow for a few weeks. That happens sometimes in a salon. 

Usually flushing the system will take care of it. So one Friday morning, twenty minutes before opening, Di poured bleach down the drains to flush all the pipes while the team was gathered for their daily huddle.

Eight minutes later one of the stylists noticed the pedicure bowls were overflowing.

So were the shampoo bowls.

Everything was overflowing.

Everyone grabbed buckets and started bailing out sinks. But the water was going down very slowly. 

Bleach hadn’t cut it. So someone rushed off to the store to buy Draino.

Then guests started arriving.

Despite the plumbing troubles, Thanx opened on time. But water had to be used sparingly. When someone used the shampoo bowl, the pedicure bowl filled up. 

Di watched the girl adapt as they realized they had to be strategic. Working together and communicating were essential to prevent a huge mess.

The Draino was also a bust. By 11 a.m. Diane called a plumber. When one finally showed up around 3, they found a clog the size of a dog around a mascara spoolie that had fallen in who knows where.

It could have been the workday from hell. Instead, everyone stayed calm and took a role until the problem was solved. Their energy, vibes, and friendship sustained them through a tough situation.
