In the Chair with Thanx Vibe Tribe: Joshlynn

Why did you decide to become a stylist?

I’ve always been into anything artistic. So I wanted a career where I could use my creative side.  Growing up, I was always doing hair, nails, and makeup for friends and family. Eventually I decided to join a cosmetology program and get licensed.

When did you join Thanx?

I officially joined Thanx in January of 2025. About a month before that I’d stopped by for a haircut. I’d recently moved to this area, but I was already working somewhere else and wasn’t exactly looking for a job. But the way they made me feel really stuck with me. Two weeks later I started considering working in a salon again and I couldn’t stop thinking about how they welcomed me. I knew Thanx was where I wanted to be.

What made Thanx special?

There was such a comforting feeling when I walked in the door, even though I didn’t have an appointment. As a stylist here, Diane gives us so many opportunities. It’s not just a business to her, and her focus isn’t on the money. She cares so much more about making everyone feel good instead of looking at people as just paying clients.

What are your favorite services to offer?

I would say coloring with vivids because it makes me feel most like painting and allows me to show my creativity through people's hair. Also blonding–they're tied.

What do you like most about working at Thanx?

The teamwork and the way we set up our core values. We really spend time not only behind the chair but also connecting with each other and that helps us to always be on the same page.

What do you bring to the team?

I’m pretty calm, and I’m always willing to be an extra set of hands wherever I’m needed. I’m also willing to hear anything out and be a sounding board.

What do you like to do outside of work?

I try to paint as much as I can to further express my artistic side. I paint with acrylics, preferably scenery like sunsets and mountains. I also go to the gym and drive around listening to music. Sometimes I try to work on my social media skills.

What kind of clients are you looking for?

Ones who are willing to keep coming back and become one of my regulars. I prefer nice people in my chair who always have an open mind, even when their look doesn’t turn out quite how they saw it in their head. If they’re willing to try something bold–like a vivid color–that’s always a bonus!
