Ready to Turn the Page

“Betting on yourself isn’t risky - it’s revolutionary!”
Diane heard this recently on the Making HERstory podcast by Ashley Crabb, which is a love letter to every woman standing on the edge of her next chapter.
As someone very ready to turn that page, Di could relate.
If you’ve been to Thanx lately or read some of our recent blogs, you’re probably aware that she’s been making some changes, getting ready to step into her dream job.
For years she thought that was hair dressing. Low and behold, turns out it’s being an entrepreneur and helping young professionals grow into the best stylist they can be. These professionals don’t need Di to do their hair. They need a leader to teach them how to build a fulfilling career in the beauty industry.
That’s why she’s inspired by stories of people who went from working full time to starting their own business, believing in themselves enough to walk away from security and trust their intuition.
Ashley claims there’s a moment where the version of success you were taught to chase just stopped fitting. Or when the version of success you thought you were striving for led to something else.
Di was in single mom survival mode for so long that secure work seemed like the goal. Old thought patterns she was raised with, then two divorces, beat her down. She had to discover who she was before she knew what she really wanted. Even after starting Thanx, it took awhile to figure out what she was meant to become. Now she’s confident it’s being a business owner and entrepreneur.
Until this year she couldn’t even envision the word entrepreneur to say it properly. Hang ups like that don’t happen by chance. They happen because there’s a blockage. A negative belief about yourself, what you can do, and who you are. To overcome that blockage, Di had to narrow down her vision and really understand what she was trying to accomplish. Now she thinks entrepreneur is a beautiful word.
So what is that vision? To lead her team in a healthy, beautiful atmosphere of encouragement and accountability where they can earn a professional income and benefits. From the bottom of her heart, she wants every member of her team to take home a nice paycheck. Her vision isn’t houses and vacations for herself. She would find more satisfaction and blessing being able to help others achieve those things. Her new number one focus is to grow young beauty professionals into the lifestyle they deserve and the professionals they can be. She’ll do that through extraordinary leadership–guiding them, looking out for them, and always being in their corner.
In her quest to continuously improve her leadership skills, Di recently had a discovery call with the Genius Network, the leading marketing and entrepreneurship group in the United States. Though typically you need a million dollars worth of revenue to be part of this group, Di was invited to do a call even though she didn’t quite meet the financial requirements.
Just talking to someone at that level of success was really cool. Their group is all about connections. People help each other, fill in for one other, and lead people to others who can help them. She felt an energy lift just talking about it. Everyone wants to be in the think tank–the room where it happens, so to speak.
After the call Di was so excited she considered investing in one of their courses. Then fear spoke up. Who was Di to think she deserved to be in that room?
For about two minutes fear prevailed. Then Di pushed back. She did deserve to be in that room! She had just had an awesome conversation. She could hold her own with these people!
While she ultimately decided she needed to focus on implementing what she already knew instead of investing more money in training, her confidence remained.
Growth isn’t just about networking or pounding the pavement. You have to be in the right room. To find the right energy that matches yours. You also need to bring your own energy to any room you enter.
While Di is working toward the qualifying goal.
She’s all in to help her tribe reach that. She jokes,“It’s taken me 20 years to be an overnight success.” Thanx is celebrating 20 years in business in May 2026.
Being able to concentrate most of her effort on this vision without working 80 hours a week is blowing her mind. She’s also learning what to do with herself if she gets home from the salon at a reasonable hour – like dinner dates or social plans with friends.
As she embarks on this new chapter, she shows up fresh, healthy, and hydrated with a belief that each day matters, ready to lead her girls down the right path.
Di knows that this is a transition for her guests as well. “To all the dear people I’ve had the opportunity and privilege to touch by doing your hair - thank you for so many amazing years! I can now take the time to look you in the eye and touch you that way, while these incredible young talents do your hair. Please have faith and trust in the team that I’m building. I’ve taught them everything I know! I’ll still be around ensuring that Thanx’s culture doesn’t change. You’ll still receive the same great service, with a focus on genuine connection and an inviting atmosphere.”
