New Partnership With Motives Promotes Healthy, Age Appropriate Skin Care

As we mentioned in our last post, Thanx has recently partnered with Motives Cosmetics to provide high-quality and affordable skincare products made with natural ingredients. Today we’ll share how that partnership came to be, explain why it’s important to use age appropriate skincare products, and invite you to an upcoming skin care clinic.

Why Motives Cosmetics?

Diane learned about Motives when she met Maleeva Epperson while volunteering for Breast Cancer Support Services, a cause dear to both of them. She discovered that she and Maleeva share the same philosophy about skin care. Both ladies want to feel good about any product they’re putting on someone else’s skin (or hair). They want natural products with quality ingredients from a company they trust—and affordable prices are always a bonus.

Maleeva shared that she’s a representative for Motives Cosmetics. Motives purchases ingredients directly from labs instead of distributors, which allows them to keep their products moderately priced. With Motives, you’re getting the highest quality ingredients using the latest technology at prices that rival what you might pay at Target or CVS for subpar products. Motives strives to use natural ingredients that are better for your skin, and they offer a wide range of skincare products and makeup.

Since Diane and Maleeva also connected on a personal level about their shared interests and values, they decided to team up and do some great stuff together, starting with an upcoming skin care clinic.

TikTok Teaches Tweens Unhealthy Skincare Habits

There’s a recent TikTok trend of children as young as eleven sharing skin care tutorials and showing off extensive skin care routines. This has led to an explosion of tweens taking an interest in skin care and purchasing expensive products to copy what they see online. Unfortunately, most children and their parents are unaware that many of these products are meant for adults and can be irritating and even dangerous to young skin.

While skin care is important at any age, an eleven year old’s skin is different than a forty year old’s. Girls don’t need to exfoliate dead skin cells because they don’t have many yet. Retinol often causes dry, blotchy skin in teens. And people shouldn’t use anti-aging products before they’re in their 20’s. Dermatologists warn that using harsh and unnecessary products at such a young age can actually damage skin and lead to long term problems.

But tweens taking an interest in skin care can be a great thing—as long as they’re taught what products are appropriate and which they should avoid until they’re older. It’s never too early to start a good moisturizing routine and get in the habit of always wearing sunscreen to protect your skin.

Learn More at our Skin Care Clinic

On Saturday, March 9th from 1-2:30 pm, Maleeva will host a skin care clinic at Thanx for women and girls of all ages. This is a perfect opportunity for mothers and daughters (or grandmothers and granddaughters!) to learn together and ask a real expert about what they may have seen online. The goal is to help everyone feel comfortable and confident in their own skin. Guests will learn what skin care routines are best for various age groups and how to adjust to the changing conditions of each season. If you’ve ever wondered what anti-aging or cellular regenerating really means, or you’re just overwhelmed and don’t know where to start, we’ve got you!

The cost is $20 per person, which will be donated to the Thanx Wig and Makeup Boutique to support women undergoing medically induced hair loss. Because we’d love to see families learn together, make it a mother-daughter date and the cost is $20 for the pair of you.

Space is limited, so reserve your seat today by donating to the Wig Bank.
